  • I feel that where I am right now in my life is the biggest accomplishment so far. I survived so many obstacles and challenges, and I am at the most content stage of my life. Getting into mid 40s this year, I feel that I am best shape in my life.

  • “The more you lift, the more you refine and grow into your technique. This makes you more efficient, and with that consistency allows you to increase your numbers over time – a very simplified way of looking at it, but really the more reps you invest in the bank, and the longer you invest, the better your return. I find this way of investing my time soothes my mental health as much as the physical. It’s addictive and I am really enjoying working on the mastery of the movements and trying to see what the best numbers I am capable of achieving are. All of that probably could have been summed up with – I just really love it.”

  • What motivated you to become a girevik? Why do you lift?
It suits me as an athlete better than any sport. I lift for personal achievement, to demonstrate the possibilities for women in the lighter weight classes, and because I want to do my part to spread awareness as GS becomes more known worldwide.

  • Aside from bringing women together to learn and teach one another on kettlebell sport technique and training, the Women’s International Kettlebell Sport Summit (#WIKSummit2016) has a primary objective of elevating the dialogue on various issues that female athletes and coaches care about. • Be a part of kettlebell sport history – join us for the inaugural Women’s International Kettlebell Sport Summit 2016! In August 2015, I attended the Girls Gone Strong Women’s Fitness Summit, where I witnessed the power of bringing women together to talk about female-specific topics, learn from each other, and network. • But to add to Waitzkin’s idea: getting surprised is NOT the only thing we can count on. We can also count on the kindness and wisdom of true friends, and fellow GS athletes and coaches, who truly have your back, no matter what. They continue to be a deep source of inspiration, not only for how to be strong physically and mentally, but also for how to behave magnificently, both on and off the platform. It is because of them — and you — that I continue to lift and encourage others to lift.

For those of you who are going through tough times, be kind and patient with yourself, and don’t give up. We are here for you, and you can do this! And for those who are on the fence about competing, try it! You just might surprise yourself 🙂
