  • Lorna Kleidman, USA

By admin | In Kettle Beauties & Beasts | on August 26, 2014

“The beauty and the challenge of this sport is having to constantly explain what it is. It’s like having an unusual name that everyone mispronounces: on the one hand you have a cool name, but on the other hand you go through the days correcting everyone. So it’s reiterated – it’s not an aesthetic event, it’s a performance event. It’s not about brute strength, it’s about technique, endurance and sub-maximal of strength.”

  • Denis Vasilev, Russia

It’s an honor and pleasure to feature one of the most decorated GS athletes in the world, MSIC Denis Vasilev. And did you know that he is an artist, too? Now you know 🙂

  • Megan Densmore, USA

By admin | In Kettle Beauties & Beasts | on August 13, 2014

For more than a decade, Megan struggled with fibromyalgia. Today, she is a beast on the platform and is helping others overcome health challenges through Shaklee.

  • But to add to Waitzkin’s idea: getting surprised is NOT the only thing we can count on. We can also count on the kindness and wisdom of true friends, and fellow GS athletes and coaches, who truly have your back, no matter what. They continue to be a deep source of inspiration, not only for how to be strong physically and mentally, but also for how to behave magnificently, both on and off the platform. It is because of them — and you — that I continue to lift and encourage others to lift.

For those of you who are going through tough times, be kind and patient with yourself, and don’t give up. We are here for you, and you can do this! And for those who are on the fence about competing, try it! You just might surprise yourself 🙂

“If you’re on the fence to join your spouse in the sport, then I say give it a whirl; there’s a good chance you’ll fall hard for it and fall harder for your spouse as you cheer each other on.” – Karli Harshman

  • Mitch Blackburn, USA

By admin | In Kettle Beauties & Beasts | on July 23, 2014

“I have no GS hero in particular because in general, the people I look up to are the athletes starting from scratch. In a joking sense, I was raised into this sport. I have a great coach (my dad, Ken Blackburn) and all the necessary tools simply handed to me right from the get-go. I didn’t have to decide to make the change, or buy a gym membership, or find a coach. So the guy/girl who shows up to a competition alone with zero ties to anyone, and gives a max effort all on their own, will always be someone I respect.”

“I really, really, really hope that we can get over our personal differences soon and just compete together at the World Championships under one flag. I don’t think that the best of the best that our country has were truly represented last year. Having our best out there will make the world stand up and take us seriously, and it will certainly bring more attention to the sport.”

  • Clara O’Connor, Ireland

By admin | In Kettle Beauties & Beasts | on July 8, 2014

Meet Clara O’Connor, kettlebell sport athlete and proud member of the National Irish Team. Although we have never met in person, she has inspired me and my team as we watched a video of her snatching a 24kg bell at competition earlier this year. She also managed to inspire me this week with one of […]
